ChatGPT has taken the internet world by storm. I, a bit curious about this new language model and a trending application among the corporates and institutes, tried my hands on it. And see what I found.
My Tribute to ChatGPT – the New Storm
I have loved using ChatGPT, thanks to its easy User Interface. This language model has all the power to make us feel jealous of it. But on the other side of the coin, it can help us with better time management and high productivity on some points in our writing processes.

What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI. It is trained on a dataset of conversational text and is able to generate human-like responses to prompts it is given. It can be used for various tasks such as language translation, conversation generation, and question answering.
What does OpenAi, the company, do?
OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research laboratory consisting of the for-profit OpenAI LP and its parent company, the non-profit OpenAI Inc. The company was founded in December 2015 by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, Wojciech Zaremba, and John Schulman.
OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity. They conduct research in various fields of AI such as Robotics, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning.
OpenAI has several notable achievements such as:
- Developed GPT-2, a state-of-the-art language model that can generate human-like text.
- Developed Dactyl, an AI-powered robotic hand that can manipulate objects in the real world.
- Developed GPT-3, a highly advanced language model which can perform a wide range of tasks with high accuracy and fluency.
- Developed OpenAI Gym, a toolkit for developing and comparing reinforcement learning algorithms.
OpenAI also provides access to its models, tools, and research to the public through its OpenAI API, which allows developers to integrate the company’s models into their own applications and services.
OpenAI has been backed by some of the most influential people and organizations, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and a number of venture capital firms.
What are the advantages of ChatGPT?
There are several advantages of using ChatGPT:
- Human-like language generation: ChatGPT is trained on a dataset of conversational text, so it is able to generate responses that are similar to how a human would respond.
- Flexibility: ChatGPT can be fine-tuned for various tasks such as language translation, conversation generation, and question answering.
- Large scale: ChatGPT is a large model, trained on a massive dataset, which allows for a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Speed: ChatGPT is able to generate responses quickly, which makes it useful for real-time applications such as chatbots.
- Language understanding: ChatGPT understands the context of the given statement and responds accordingly.
- Cost-effective: As it is an OpenAI model, it is open-source and free to use which makes it cost-effective and accessible to a wide range of users.
What are the disadvantages of ChatGPT?
While ChatGPT has many advantages, there are also some disadvantages to consider:
- Lack of common sense: ChatGPT is trained on a dataset of conversational text, so it may not have a deep understanding of the world and may not be able to make inferences based on common sense.
- Bias: Since ChatGPT is trained on a dataset of text, it may reproduce biases present in the data it was trained on.
- Lack of imagination: ChatGPT is a language model that generates responses based on patterns it has seen in the training data. It may not be able to generate truly novel responses or ideas.
- High computational cost: ChatGPT is a large model, which requires a lot of computational resources to run. This can make it difficult to use in resource-constrained environments.
- Lack of interpretability: Because ChatGPT is a neural network, it is difficult to understand how it arrives at its predictions, which can make it hard to debug or interpret its outputs.
- It’s not “True AI”: As it is based on deep learning, it still lacks in true intelligence. It is more like a sophisticated rule-based system.
What are some other apps like ChatGPT?
There are several other language models and applications that are similar to ChatGPT, including:
- GPT-3: Developed by OpenAI, GPT-3 is a highly advanced language model that can perform a wide range of tasks with high accuracy and fluency.
- BERT: Developed by Google, BERT is a pre-trained language model that can be fine-tuned for a variety of natural language processing tasks, such as question answering and sentiment analysis.
- T5: Developed by Google, T5 is a pre-trained language model that can be fine-tuned for a wide range of natural language understanding tasks, such as text-to-text generation.
- XLNet: Developed by Google, XLNet is a pre-trained language model that uses a permutation-based training method that allows it to consider all possible orders of words in a sentence, instead of just the left-to-right order used by traditional language models.
- RoBERTa: Developed by Facebook, RoBERTa is a pre-trained language model that is similar to BERT, but with several modifications to the training process that improve its performance.
- ALBERT: Developed by Google, ALBERT is a pre-trained language model that is similar to BERT but with a smaller number of parameters, which makes it more efficient to use.
All of these models are trained on large amounts of text data and are able to generate human-like responses to the prompts they are given. They can be fine-tuned for a variety of tasks such as language translation, conversation generation, and question answering, and are able to understand the context of the statement and respond accordingly.
You can easily add its extension to chrome and you are all set. The only thing that made me think about the tool is it asks you to not share any sensitive information in the conversations as it can be reviewed by the app’s AI trainers to improve its system. 😊
